Last Thursday night, the Volcom crew and about 1200 of our closest friends were rocking and rolling in Downtown LA! The Volcom Spring 2011 Swim fashion show took place at the downtown Cooper Building and it was anything but a typical fashion show.

The Spring 2011 Swim collection was showcased on a dramatic "X" shaped catwalk... bikini-clad models were coming from all directions as the crowd pushed up against the barriers to maximize the view.

Amongst the swimwear being shown, the showcase also included 10 one-of-a-kind designer styles as well as denim and leather pieces from the Spring "Jennifer Herrema X Volcom" collaboration collection

The Eco-Panda brand has proven that eco-fashion doesn’t have to lack style or quality. Swimwear Market to Slowdown

A recent report has come out with the assessment of likely impact of the slowdown in consumer spending on sales, of discretionary products like swimwear. This is one of the issues covered in a new report on the global swimwear and beachwear market, which also looks at technology, fit and styling, and competition between private-label retailers and brands. The fall-out from the global credit crunch is likely to have an adverse effect on the clothing industry for sometime.

Overall, it could lower world swimwear growth between 2008 and 2014 from 5.32% to 1.69% and leaves the world market at retail worth US$13.25bn rather than US13.85bn, according to a new report. This worst-case scenario, the report says, is likely to lead to a "considerable reduction in the exceptionally large number" of swimwear brands that exist today.

Retail market in 2008

In its 'Global market review of swimwear and beachwear - forecasts to 2014' (2009 edition), it is estimated the retail market for swimwear and beachwear in 2008 is worth US$13.15bn - a 2.1% rise on the market's value of US$12.88bn in 2006. Within this, women's swimwear represents 70% of the world total value, followed by men's swimwear 17%), girls' swimwear (10%), and boys' swimwear (4%). Unit sales for 2008 are up 1.4% to 1,058m pieces. Europe and Japan/Korea have seen volume declines, while volume growth in the rest of the world averages a modest 2.8%. Overall, it is estimated that the average world retail price for swimwear and beachwear in 2008 is US$12.43. This is only marginally up from the 2006 figure of US$12.35.

While the swimwear market in total continues to face a world of no overall price inflation, the clothing industry is facing unprecedentedly high fuel costs and transport charges; volatile exchange rates; and labour shortages in low-cost economies such as China and India.

Slow Future Growth

Following the Beijing Olympics last year, the next major event for swimwear will be the London Olympics in 2012. By then, the retail market for swimwear and beachwear is forecast at US$13.51bn-representing growth of 2.7% over a four-year period. Unit sales for 2012 will be 1,099m pieces, a growth of 41m units from 2008. New demand will be outside Europe, Japan and Korea. It is estimated that the average world retail price for swimwear and beachwear in 2012 will be US$12.29. The most expensive parts of the developed world will continue to be Japan and Western Europe. This sluggish growth forecast is blamed on the current uncertain economic situation, long-term population stagnation, and the shift in branded manufacturing to lower-cost countries.

French Brand JOG Swimwear Unveils Its First Collection

JOG Swimwear, a young French brand, launches its first collection in Asia. Behind these three letters, a young designer, Jessica Othnin-Girard, and a former champion of synchronized swimming, decide to create a brand just like her biggest passion. A glamorous, smart, and elegant collection…

A brand under the sign of synchronized swimming and femininity
In 2008, Jessica Othnin-Girard, a former champion of synchronized swimming, has decided to create her own swimwear brand, JOG. Closely linked and inspired from synchronized swimming, JOG is an upscale French brand which sublimates ladies and girls on the beach and around pools. In each collection the values of elegance, art and femininity predominate.

Jog Swimwear elates in the spirit of the brand and its atmosphere: refinement, femininity, delicacy for styles adapted to any body types.

Upscale And Sophisticated Products

Fabrics used, mainly in microfiber, create a "second skin" effect and increase the femininity of the brand, the carriage on the body and the ease in the water.
Modeled after synchronized swimming, JOG uses high-quality small sequins tone on tone, stitched by hand by professionals. All accessories are finely selected and tested by quality laboratories.

A French design in the conquest of China and Singapore
A legal entity in Hong-Kong, a team based in Shanghai and a design "made in France" enable to JOG a smoothness and well-controlled presence on the Asian continent.

JOG targets first the western populations expatriated in Shanghai, looking for style and unsatisfied by the local offer. Avant-gardist, JOG also proposes styles adapted to the Chinese body type.

Summer Wear : Swimwear Tankinis

Tankinis are a firm fave with girls for swimwear as they are so extraordinarily stylish and also provide a nice quantity of coverage.

Tired of wearing the regular looking 2 piece or one piece swimsuits out there? Well now their is some that are called tankini swimwear. They are kind of like bikinis except without the "bi" and adding in a "Tank" this is where the name Tankini's came from. This swimwear is just about like a tank top styled as a swimsuit top and a regular pair of bottoms. This may be a superb new look for swimming suits that was made. The tankini swimwear shows less of your skin as it just about covers up the belly area, but it is not like a regular one piece.

Women everywhere have always been faced by the existential sunbathing quandary : to cover or not to hide? How much is too showing and how unhappy isn't showing enough? But thanks to the latest revolutionary efforts of swim wear designers from all across the fashion world, there's certain to be one just excellent for you. You do not have to turn to extraordinary flaunting nor do you have to cover up like an unpleasantly wrapped burrito either.

This hybrid of the tank top, the one-piece suit and the bikini has proved to be one of a girl's best chums. If you are not a gigantic fan of showing off too much skin or remain a small nervous about flaunting your God-given assets, then it'd be a sensible idea to take this direction. Next to the skin-baring eye-catching string bikini comes the comfort and charm of the tankini.

Hottest & Sexiest EMPREINTE To Showcase Melody At Harrogate Lingerie & Swimwear

EMPREINTE, France-based specialist in bras in larger sizes, will be exhibiting its Melody line at the Harrogate Lingerie & Swimwear exhibition, which will be held in Harrogate (England) from 22 to 24 February 2009. All of EMPREINTE’s models combine seductive design with incomparable support. Its latest design is the Melody line, which is made of moulded sheer lace (up to 36G). Britain, Ireland and Nordic countries are among the brand’s major markets for exports.

EMPREINTE specialises in designing lingerie for women with larger bust sizes. Its bras are specially designed to offer stylish support – the cup material (whether tulle, lace or microfibre) always holds its shape, without the use of spandex. The back-strap material will not deform after stretching but will always retain its initial shape: it stretches 100%, as compared to 140% for standard materials.

Thanks to a specially designed pattern, the straps attach to the bra back in such a way that the middle of the back, the strap’s pull and the side of the bra are perfectly balanced. Strap elasticity is reduced to 30% (as opposed to 50% for a standard strap). The underwiring is closed, producing a slimming effect from the front, with thicker components to keep the bra perfectly in place. Each band/cup size corresponds to a specific strap width and hook height.

This ready-to-wear lingerie is designed to provide wearers with the impression that it is custom-fitted – each model is available in 40 band and cup sizes. EMPREINTE is the only underwear brand to offer such an extensive range of sizes (up to 46G).

At the Harrogate Lingerie & Swimwear exhibition, EMPREINTE will be presenting its latest Melody range, which is available in black, ivory and caramel up to size 36G. This design – a fashionable blend of opaque and transparent fabric – offers the refinement of sheer lace alongside high-tech performance. A delicate chain of lace flowers alternates with satiny mesh. Moulded to form a seamless cup, the material ensures optimal support, while a satin-covered foam strap provides the ultimate in comfort. A hint of satin trim creates a stunning neckline leading down to the bra’s centre, which is made of muslin and satin.
