Drawing on Tasmania’s remote wilderness and natural surrounds, this distinctive collection of exhibition work explores thought provoking environmental issues from the fragility of nature and the threatened intracacies of different ecosystems, to the issues of endangered old growth forests.
A diverse range of concepts and materials are created in limited edition production pieces to exotic wearables and small sculptures, such as in Jeanette James’ work “Echidna quill necklace” or discover Marisa Molin’s intricate one-off sculptural forms cast in bronze and silver. Dulcie Greeno, Tasmania’s longest practising Aboriginal artist, creates traditional neckpieces in Green Maireener and Rice shells.
